ME3: Extended Cut Part 2

Here we look at the joys of apparently the most dramatic scene(s) in the Extended Cut, the goodbye to our most talked-up squadmate.  And the other one...who leaves with them, too, for some reason...?

It might've been somewhat dramatic if the entire scene wasn't completely contrived, impossible, and actually made some modicum of sense.  Like, some suspense, from the massive building shooting everything that moves?  Like large objects, like the Normandy?  It would help if Harbinger didn't turn into a massive statue, either.  But then, this scene wouldn't be possible.

Which makes the whole scene absolutely ridiculous. All for getting characters off the stage.

This is the equivalent of filling in one plot hole, by filling it in with the shit from several others.

In regards to my Project Eternity's Kickstarter contribution, all that money came from you, via Google Adsense.  My latest check from Google ended up being $243.69.  Hate or love my youtube vids, every view adds up, so thank you all for watching my ramblings.  One thing we can agree on is good storytelling in gaming, which has always come from the Interplay/Black Isle folk.

  1. Better later than never. Finished Planescape for my first time a couple of days ago. I can say that this was not only the best story I've ever seen in a game, it's also the best story I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing in any medium. For the time being at least.

Smudboy. Got a question for yeh. What's the story, in any medium, that you enjoyed the most? The one that you finished and just felt mesmerized? Because I surely felt that way with Planescape.
If you can't pick one, bring up a list :)

  2. Hey Morne,

I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie, so I can point to a few Poirot mysteries that got my brain going. Five Little Pigs, Cards on the Table and Murder on the Nile come to mind for them to keep me vested and vexed in the plots.

Aside from some performances by my music teacher and his ensemble, P:T was perhaps the most profound experience I've ever had in my life. The themes, the storytelling, the characters, these were things that could only be told successfully in a video game (notably Deionarra's Sensory Stone.)

  3. I knew you had a thing for murder mysteries. Can't stop but feel an ignorant when I realize I never touched a single one of Agatha Christie's books in my life. I'll try and get a grab on one of those works you mentioned once I finish Dune.

Music is just like that, each time I listen to B.B. King's Sweet Sixteen played live on Kinshasa my heart falls. Strong stuff.

As for Planescape, it's amazing how everything resonates so deeply with the characters. One of my favourite moments was when Morte told this one tale, to Yves, about a man who had three wishes granted from Ravel but didn't recall the first two.

I know you don't like the ID, but not everybody has your opinion. I know that your a intelligent person that that can use logic so could you do me the favor and tell me that you did not block me because I spoke of the ID theory because if that is why you are a very pathetic person.
